The Bride: Melissa, interior decorator and creative genius The Groom: Charles, IT guy and snuggler of the bride and tiger The Tiger: Fuzzie, ragdoll kitten and sleepaholic, pounces when you least expect it Location & Date of the Wedding: Hilltop Chapel on Mt Tamborine, Gold Coast, Qld Australia - Sunday, 1st March 2009 The Wedding Style:Classy, elegant, vintage and very OTT with pearls, diamonds, feathers, lace and buttons! It was very much a DIY wedding from the start. A small affair with a total of 29 people including the bridal party for a 2.00pm ceremony with a high tea reception to follow on the balcony over looking the Gold Coast Hinterland, the bridal party and parents would then continue the celebrations by having dinner at "the Point", Currumbin Beach. It was designed to be an intimate wedding with family and a handful of our closest friends to share in what was the beginning of the rest of our lives together. Everything was themed around the high tea reception from our elegant gowns to the teapot center pieces, faux cupcakes and teacup candle bombonieres.
A delightful mix of pinks, white, cream, silver and black with a couple of other colours thrown in along the way made the wedding a sea of colour. It was also a wedding with a budget price-tag but not a budget look. I wore a designer gown but made by an online bridal store in Hong Kong. I
I hand stitched for hours on end to make felt flower corsage pins for all my guests to wear, pinks for the women and black & white for the men. Felt flower and button stem flowers made up the center pieces, arranged in teapots and surrounded by faux cupcakes on a cake stand. Button boutonnieres for the groom, best man and fathers, and corsage pins for the mothers. My maid of honour wore a wrist corsage to match her dress and leaving her hands free to hold my felt flower bouquet. Not forgetting Fuzzie's felt flower collar corsage! Button stem flowers featured in a decorated coffee mug on the register table, not to mention the buttons and felt flowers that decorated the wedding cake. The options are endless with these little gems and I used them in anyway I could think of to make my wedding day one to remember.
